Meet Taylah Teschner (Naturopath & Nutritionist)

My Naturopathic Journey

taylahAfter my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer, at 17 my mind began to turn, and I started to realise there had to be more to the treatment of disease states than solely medication and drug therapy. While I truly respect allopathic medicine and its breakthroughs, my way of thinking consistently returned to ‘prevention rather than cure’. Even then, if you cannot prevent such diseases what can complement these medications and drug therapies to improve the quality of life of the person while receiving treatment, such as chemotherapy or antibiotics?

While cancer is the extreme, it was where my passion for natural health began. After 5 years of studying I received my Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) in 2017 from Endeavour College, Brisbane.

I believe in treating holistically. This includes acknowledging that every system of the body is connected,  and that mental, emotional, environmental, lifestyle and dietary influences significantly affect the function of our body, therefore affecting our overall health and wellbeing. I understand that every person is unique, which is why each treatment plan is formulated to meet the specific needs of the individual. I don’t believe in a “one size fits all” approach to health.

Through the use of evidence-based medicines derived from nature and implementation of healthy lifestyle practices, we are able to support the body’s own innate ability to heal itself. This leads to more sustainable and long-term health outcomes.

The greatest medicine of all is teaching people how not to need it” Hippocrates

Outside of Work

Outside of seeing patients I enjoy spending time with my family, finding cafes with delicious and healthy food, cooking and running my Kelpie X Border collie, Ruby (aka my fur child).
