Prime Your Sleep

Quality sleep is crucial for good health!

Quality sleep is crucial for good health!

Many factors influence our sleep, some in our control, some not.

Your nervous system is your main control system, affecting all other systems of your body.  At one end of the spectrum this system can put you in fight/flight mode, the other end, rest/restore mode.  In order to have quality sleep, your nervous system must be able to move from one mode to the other.

Fight/flight mode is a survival response, putting your system on high alert.  This mode, in the short term, is effective to motivate you to achieve your goals and meet deadlines.  Modern day lifestyles, however keep your nervous system in a constant flight/fight mode keeping you alert, on edge and unable to wind down to rest/restore mode which is essential for quality sleep.

In order to improve your sleep, consider taking steps to prime your nervous system to more readily move toward rest/restore mode.  The use of dim lighting, soft music and limited use of screens in the evening reduces stressful input to your nervous system.  A regular sleeping routine allows your nervous system to better recognise when to sleep and when to wake.

Chiropractic care can assist your body to move between fight/flight mode and rest/relax mode.  Chiropractic care focuses on the health and function of your nervous system.  Chiropractors identify and correct spinal and joint dysfunction in order to clear interference to your nervous system, enabling optimal health and function.  Come and see one of our great Chiropractors to have your nervous system checked and primed for quality sleep.  Contact our team to book your appointment.
